UVia the diabetes.co.uk website and forum, I’m participating in a public trial of the Hypoband. This little devices detects cold sweats and alerts you or someone in your contact list to the fact that you are having a hypo.
It’s designed for use overnight specifically, but not being someone who always pays attention to instructions, I’m wearing it out and about.
First up, the unboxing:
My first impressions of the device are that its a little bulkier than I was expecting. It also feels quite cheap and plasticky compared to the Pebble Smartwatch that I wear all the time. This is slightly disappointing. As a result, the materials make it feel a little scratchy on the wrist. Below is a brief side by side video showing the two devices.
The software is very easy to set up but I’ve found that it tends to do something a little odd after charging. The device seems to turn itself off, which I’ve not seen before in something like this.
As I use it more, I’ll keep this updated.
