The day one question is why do you blog? And many of the blogs out there talk about it helping them to deal with the disease that is T1D.

But that’s not something I have an affinity for. I’ve been T1D a while and a long time ago I came to the realisation that T1D has the very capable ability to make life hell, and kill me in a disproportionate number of unpleasant ways. That realisation that I am mortal and that I keep myself alive. And that’s been life for as long as I can remember.
So no, I don’t blog to help me deal with it. I’m well past that point.
I blog because whilst there’s a ton of research into medical treatment, cures and technology, there’s next to no real reference for how T1Ds deal with this and what it means in real life.
Now, me, I’m a bit of a nerd. There, I said it, the N word. I like technology in all its forms and there’s a ton of it in relation to diabetes. And I wanted to write about it, and me. And how we interact. But also about what we could do with it and how, taking a forward looking perspective, we could make our own lives easier with the stuff that’s out there.
Most T1Ds have little idea of what they could achieve and what’s available, and by writing about it and pointing people I meet at it, I’m hoping to provide a bit more information and just allow people to understand what they could have and do, one person at a time.
